Through a long history, many places of the country has been associated with dragons – noble animal heads. Image of the dragon is a familiar figure in the cultural life – spirituality of Vietnam for thousands of years ago. Thus, over a long historical process, many places of the country has been associated with noble animal heads (dragon, unicorn, tortoise, and phoenix) in the form name or the name Han and Vietnamese hieroglyph.

Thang Long is the name of the capital of the Republic of Vietnam dynasties of Ly, Tran, Le, Mac, Le Trung Hung, spanning from 1010 – 1788, today is the capital of Hanoi.
According to historical analysis, in 8/1010, when King Ly Cong Uan leave the capital from Hoa Lu to Dai La is the dragon fly to new capital was called Thang Long means “dragon fly”. In 2010, the grand celebration of 1,000 years of Thang Long – Hanoi was held solemnly in the capital.
Cuu Long river (nine dragons) is the common name for the distributaries of the Mekong River flows through the territory of Vietnam and fall into the sea through 9 gates (today only 7 gates). This is also the name of the delta formed by the silt of the river the accretion.
Today, the Cuu Long river Delta is considered a breadbasket, the country’s fisheries. This is a land of unique culture, beautiful natural scenery, rich tourism potential.
Ha Long Bay (Sea and islands of Ha Long city, Cam Pha Town and part of Van Don island district, Quang Ninh province) was best known as a natural wonder with islands, caves and fascinating beaches.
The name Ha Long began the legend that the founding a state, when the Vietnamese invaders threatening, the Jade Emperor sent Mother Dragon and Dragons child flock down to help fight the enemy. When the enemy boat, dragons spit out pearls, turn into thousands of islands in the sea battle to block the advance of the enemy … The enemy ships tan, not the sky dragons that at the earth, where the battle took place. Dragon lowered position is Ha Long.
Bai Tu Long bay: Also in the legend of Ha Long Bay, where the Dragons child came down to is called Bai Tu Long bay, dragon tail turned white water forming Bach Long Vi island. As part of the heritage of Ha Long Bay, with the beautiful island with long white sandy beaches , Bai Tu Long Bay is increasingly attracting foreign tourists visited the resort.
Bach Long Vi – “dragon tail turned white water” today the province of Hai Phong. This is an island that has an important role in the expansion of ocean waters and the delineation of the Tonkin Gulf. In addition, the island is located on a major fishing grounds, has a significant place in the strategy of economic development and security – sea defense of Vietnam in the Tonkin Gulf.
Long Bien Bridge in Hanoi residents often proudly referred to as “Dragon Bridge”, one of the icons of the capital. This is the first steel bridge across the Red River in Hanoi, by the renowned architect French Gustave Eiffel design.
The bridge was built in 1899-1902, 1862 m long and is one of the world’s major bridges that period. During the war against the U.S., many bridges were heavily damaged. Currently, the Long Bien bridge used for trains, bicycles, motorcycles and pedestrians.
Nha Rong wharf (confluence of Saigon, District 4, HCM) is the place on 06.05.1911, the patriot Nguyen Tat Thanh had started the journey to save the country. It was originally a major trading port, with very unique architecture, built by the French in 1863.
Nha Rong wharf name is derived from two iconic 2 dragon directed toward motif on the moon by “two dragons attending upon the moon” – a familiar style of decorating temples in Vietnam, is mounted on the roof of the headquarters building trade port. Today this building is the Museum of Ho Chi Minh.
Ham Rong bridge: Spanning the Ma river, distancen Thanh Hoa city 4 km towards north that Ham Rong bridge is very famous bridge in the Vietnam War. The original bridge built by the French in 1904, the steel arch no pillar in the center, destroyed by war in 1946. From 1962-1964 Ham Rong bridge was rebuilt. In later years, the key requirements of the fight raiding and protection of traffic. Bombs badly damaged the U.S. in 1972, by 1973 demand is restored.
